TECMO SUPER BOWL 2026 Week One Edition -- what is in this download ======================================================================== THE THREE ROMS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Same rosters, same ratings, same intro in all three. The difference is how much is changed under the hood. TSB2026-BASE.nes md5 4e11bd48d982e4f6438a50256bcb14ac TSB2026-VANILLA.nes md5 0ff8e6d30f2d022cc1075473be05fe4c TSB2026-HARDTYPE.nes md5 d342d85879c2efb7c49f2334e33eec16 There is no fourth ROM this year. Road-team-as-Player-2 is an optional patch instead -- see below. THE TWO OPTIONAL PATCHES ------------------------------------------------------------------------ IPS files. Apply either, both or neither, to whichever of the three ROMs you play. The bytes they replace are the same in all three, so one file each covers every version. TSB2026_OPTION_P2_road_team_as_player_2.ips When your team is the road team you play as Player 2, on the right side of the screen; at home you stay Player 1. One two-byte change. TSB2026_OPTION_No_sprite_flicker.ips Turns off the game's sprite-priority cycling. For the AVS and for emulators that lift the NES 8-sprites-per-line limit. On real hardware, overlapping players will drop out instead of flickering -- which is why this is optional rather than built in. THE SET COMMAND LISTS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TSB2026_SET_COMMANDS.txt Every engine, rules and presentation hack in the release, as TSB Tool Supreme SET commands, with a note on each saying what it does and which addresses do the work. TSB2026_ROSTER_SET_COMMANDS.txt The roster work done after the rosters were first laid in: the men who changed team or slot, and the jersey numbers corrected against each club's own site. Both files carry the old byte each command expects to find. If a ROM does not hold that value, the hack is either already applied or the ROM is not the one the list was written against. Check before writing. Before applying a group of them together, run TSB Tool's own 'Check SET commands setting values in same location' These hacks overlap each other in places. That warning is not a formality. EDITORS USED ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TSBTool, TSB Playbook Editor, General Manager for TSB, Tecmo Super Bowl Manager 2000, Lunar IPS, Translhextion, TSB Play Editor, yy-chr, Tecmo Endzone Editor, Tecmo Hack Setter. THANKS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This release stands on other people's work. Names first, then what they did, because "thanks to everyone" pays nobody. @bruddog The Tecmo Super Bowl disassembly. Very little in this build exists without it. Also the overthrow bug fix and the onside-kick recovery work. @cx_rom The 32-team foundation and the expansion-team template this whole ROM is built on, and two-point conversion work. @BAD-AL TSB Tool, which this project leans on constantly, and the SET command syntax this file is written in. @jstout Find Open Receiver, the PA/PC read, and the colour work that keeps turning up underneath other people's hacks. @Knobbe The hacking documentation directory, without which half of this would have been rediscovered the hard way, and the PA/PC read that matched where this build landed. @Suede Wade The milestone cutscenes and Pro Bowl fix, the two-point conversion patch, and the report that caught the garbled roster title after a championship win. @COA Elway The 18-week schedule, a run of bug reports, and the 14-team playoff bracket that turned "is this possible" into "here is the shape of it". @buck The COM juice setter. @konForce Kick-return speed. @Ryzzynnwa Push/Pull, the intro drawing routine, the ball-carrier bounce effect, and a great deal of forum 95's documentation generally. @xplozv Find Open Receiver for SNES TSB I and the defensive quickness table this build's pursuit hack reads from. @pambazos88 The intro art -- metatiles and palettes -- and the insight that they are background metatiles, not sprites, which is what unstuck the intro work. No longer with us; his notes still work, byte for byte. @keithisgood Roster and post-career research, and the 32-team base for the original Tecmo Bowl. @lpotter Updated helmets. SheepdogXIX (on X) spotted a schedule error that triggered a full 272-game audit. He was right, and two games were wrong. And everyone at TecmoBowl.org who reports a bug rather than shrugging at it. A report that turns out to be right has value even when the file was already correct -- it is a check that got run.
